Sheri is an Accredited Social Worker who holds a Bachelor Social Work (Hons) from Charles Sturt University; she is an EMDR Therapist, and The Flash Technique Trained Clinician. Sheri is also trained to provide Psychological First Aid; Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Mental Health First Aid, and Ethical Trauma Treatment.
Sheri has worked for more than 15 years with children, teens and adults who have experienced family, domestic, sexual violence and addiction. She is experienced working with individuals who live with diagnoses such as Anxiety / Depression; Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (C-PTSD); Substance Use Disorder (SUD); and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
As a Social Worker, Sheri takes a wholistic approach to mental health care and emotional wellbeing. This approach sees the whole person in their environment, and considers the impact of racism; paternalism; sexism; ageism; ableism; capitalism and other social systems which can impact upon our ability to function at our full capacity.
Sheri has lived and worked on Ngunnawal Ngambri country (aka Canberra) for more than 35 years, and is proud to call it home. Sheri is Gen-X, 5th generation Irish in Australia; birder; live music lover and recovering brown thumb. Sheri believes mental health care should be affordable and relatable.
